Shapiro wins another DV trial

The order was lifted.

At trial, she acknowledged that she had lied when she said her husband hadn’t been living with her at their duplex. She said that she hadn’t slept well in the nights leading up to this incident due to pain from kidney stones, and then she had surgery. She said she was still in a haze from the surgery when she called 911 and she exaggerated everything to officers. She said she was on post-operation medications that were very strong and that she wasn’t thinking clearly. She stated that she had thought there was damage to the home, but when she had time to inspect further, she realized that her husband had made improvements to the home.

During closing argument, Shapiro told jurors that the alleged victim’s testimony was credible, and that the prosecution had not met its burden of proof because their witnesses did not establish that his client had caused any damage or made any threats.
